MISSION
The Alliance mission
is to serve people living with HIV/AIDS, their
loved ones, caregivers and communities at large,
through compassionate and non-judgmental care,
prevention, education and advocacy.
WHO WE SERVE
The Alliance serves people with HIV/AIDS and
their families through direct services such as
providing transportation to medical appointments,
providing housing and skilled nursing services.
We serve the Triangle community through education
and prevention programs and advocacy for those
afflicted with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Director of Finance
FLSA status:
Exempt; Status: Full-Time
Primary Purpose
of Position
To work as team member with the Director of Finance
to ensure the overall financial operations of the
organization are completed accurately and timely. To
work with the Director of Finance/HR to maximize the
return on financial assets by collaborating and
establishing financial policies, procedures,
controls and reporting systems. To help ensures
legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting
and financial reporting functions. This position
will work the Director of Finance/HR in all aspects
of the day to day financial operations.
Academic Requirements and Experience
+
Co-guides financial decisions by establishing,
monitoring and enforcing
policies and procedures.
+ Assists in protecting assets by
establishing, monitoring and enforcing
internal controls.
+
Transports deposits to the bank as needed.
+
Provides status of financial condition of the
organization through financial
reports by collecting, interpreting, and summarizing key
financial data.
+
Co-ensures compliance with federal, state, local and
FASB legal
requirements by researching existing and new legislation,
consulting with
outside advisors, and filing financial reports. Co-advises
management of
financial status and proposed actions.
+
Assists in year-end activities including annual
audit.
+
Assists in maintaining financial security by
researching and reconciling
discrepancies; auditing and verifying documents; following internal
controls.
+
Assists in tracking and billing of grants.
+
Assists in the preparation of the monthly financial.
+
Collaborate with the Director of Finance/HR in the
forming of the annual
budget and ensuring agency compliance.
+
Participates in long-range and strategic planning,
administrative and policy
decisions as a member of the management team.
+
Assists in providing ongoing evaluation of agency’s
accounting system and
implementing changes at the Executive Director’s discretion.
+
Assists in the creation and maintenance of general
accounting procedures
manual, and use of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
+
Assists in the administration of grants and
contracts.
+
Advises on legal policies to promote a safe and fair
workplace.
+
Provide support to the Treasurer by running reports
and supplying
requested back-up of financial transactions.
+
Perform other job-related tasks as the Board or the
Executive Director
assigns them.
Academic Requirements and experience
+
Minimum of 3-5 years business administrative
experience or equivalent
training and work experience with accounting, budgeting,
billing, payroll
and management.
+
Bachelor’s degree in a business related field from
an accredited university
or college or commensurate experience in the field.
+
Experience in a non-profit agency is preferred.
+
Competence with Microsoft Office and Fund
Accounting/Payroll software
preferred.
+
A valid North Carolina Driver’s license and adequate
transportation are
required to perform job duties.

Faith Ministry Associate: Mental Health Counselor
FLSA status:
Exempt; Status: Full-time
Primary Purpose
of Position
To provide psychological and psychiatric
treatment and counseling services to persons living
with HIV/AIDS who are diagnosed with a mental
illness, conducted in a group or individual
setting. To conduct on-site comprehensive mental
health initial assessments, provide individual short
term and crisis intervention counseling, facilitate
group counseling and/or support groups, and initiate
referrals for inpatient psychiatric treatment where
necessary. This position will function within the
Faith Ministry team of AAS-C with a primary focus on
service to all people with HIV/AIDS who request such
services.
Academic Requirements and Experience
+ Graduation from an accredited
college o university with a master’s or
doctor’s degree in psychology, social work, pastoral counseling,
psychiatry
and/or equivalent.
+ Clinical training and experience, validated by
certification and/or licensure
by the groups corresponding to their fields and/or full state
licensure in
psychology, therapy, social work, counseling or medicine.
+ Ability to assess a client’s therapeutic needs, to
establish a therapeutic
relationship and to conduct, complete, terminate and evaluate that
therapy.
+ Ability to relate the contributions of various
disciplines to the therapeutic
task and to make appropriate use of inter-professional
collaboration.
+ Ability to integrate religious commitment and
therapy practices when
appropriate.
+ Ability to help clients deal with theological
issues utilizing religious
resources within their own belief system.
+ Understanding of the dynamics of religious
experience and the implications
for pastoral psychotherapy.
+ Sound knowledge of the issues related to HIV/AIDS,
pastoral care and good
personal interaction skills preferred.
+ Knowledge of varied treatment modalities in order
to affect client behavioral
change
+ Computer literacy preferred.
+ Excellent communication skills, both written and
verbal.
+ Sound interpersonal communication skills required
to interact with people
of all educational, social, cultural and economic backgrounds.
+ Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Client Services Family Wellness Specialist

the Raleigh based client service team of AAS-C with
a primary focus on service to all people with the
HIV/AIDS who request such services.
Academic Requirements and Experience
+ Must be a Bachelors degreed licensed
clinical social worker, or a
psychologist, or psychiatrist.
+ Must be certified by North Carolina as a
licensed clinical substance abuse
counselor
+ Minimum 2 years mental health and substance
abuse assessment and
treatment experience. Experience with HIV/AIDS treatment and
local
availability of social services preferred.
+ Knowledge of varied treatment modality in
order to affect client behavioral
change
+ Computer literacy is required.
+ Excellent communication skills, both written
and verbal.
+ Sound interpersonal communication skills
required to interact with people
